Cubans, Dominicans and Venezuelans unbeaten in Beach Volley 

CARTAGENA, Colombia, July 20, 2006.-Cubans Tamara Larrea-Dalixia Fernandez, Dominicans Margarita Suero-Rosa Medrano and Venezuelans Frankelina Rodriguez-Alejandra Garcia are unbeaten with 3-0 in the pool pay of the Beach Volleyball Tournament at the XX Central American and Caribbean Games. They all have 3-0 records.

Larrea-Fernandez beat Costa Ricans Natalia Alfaro-Yanina Aguilar 21-10, 21-8 for their third win and tomorrow will be looking for the semi final ticket against Laura Molina-Diana Romero of El Salvador.

Suero-Medrano started the second day of action with a quick victory over Nancy Joseph-Andrea Davis of Trinidad & Tobago by score of 21-12, 21-16 and then followed with a triumph 21-14, 21-11 over Shirnel McPherson-Mona Crawford of Barbados 21-14, 21-11.

Rodriguez-Garcia had a tough battle to defeat Puerto Ricans Lyann Puig-Yamileska Yantin 21-19, 21-18 and came back in the afternoon to collect another win this time off Trinidadians Joseph-David 21-9, 21-12. Puig-Yantin later defeated Maria Jose Orellana-Ana Ramirez of Guatemala 21-19, 21-12.

In other matches, Orellana-Ramirez beat McPherson-Crawford 21-8, 21-14, Mexicans Revuelta-Virgen dispatched Colombians Galindo-Galindo 21-12, 21-14 and Inestroza-Pino of Honduras defeated Salvadorians Molina-Romero 21-15, 11-21, 15-11.

In the Men’s battle, a grueling morning match saw Venezuelans Jackson Henriquez-Igor Hernandez edging Puerto Ricans Raul Papaleo-Joseph Gil 21-19, 18-21, 15-9.

The top-seeded Francisco Alvarez-Wilfredo Villa of Cuba were successful for third time defeating the Mexican pair of Ulises Ontiveros-Lombardo Ontiveros by score of 21-13, 21-13.

In the afternoon session, Henriquez-Hernandez grabbed their third win by defeating Seabrooks-Hodge of St. Kitts & Nevis 21-7, 21-14 and Papaleo-Gil beat Dominicans Yeuddy Perez-Francisco Abreu 21-17, 21-13 for their second triumph.

Colombians Wilfredo Barrios-Herney Saldarriaga celebrated their Independence Day with a victory 21-18, 21-18 over Winston Gittens-Sean Codrington of Barbados before more than 1,500 spectators.

In other matches, Costa Ricans Marcelo Arraya-Jonathan Guevara beat the pair of St. Kitts 21-15, 21-19 and the Dominicans got their first win defeating Barbados 21-18, 21-15.
